5 Natural Remedies for Sleep

By Lisa (Guest Writer) –

Getting enough sleep is vital to ensuring that you stay in good health. In fact, a lack of sleep has been associated with a wide variety of health risks including obesity, diabetes, anxiety, and even increased body pain during the day. Not everyone finds falling asleep an easy process, of course, which is why we’re going to discuss five natural remedies to help you fall asleep:

Yoga and Meditation

If you’re having trouble sleeping, clearing your mind and soothing your body can likely help. There are two great ways to go about this process, and they work together quite well. The first, yoga, is a process that can be as calming or intense as you’d like it to be. At night, it’s a good idea to use slow, easy routines that you find relaxing. You can add meditation to the mix, too, to further increase the amount of peace you find before you head to bed.

The Right Scent

Aromatherapy is another option to help induce calm and drowsiness when it’s time to go to sleep. Certain scents have been shown to help us relax. If you’re looking for options, consider trying things like lavender or chamomile to help quiet your mind and nerves and ready yourself for a night of quality sleep.

A Warm Cup of Tea

Even if you’re not a “tea drinker” per se, a warm cup of the right kind of tea at bedtime can help put you in a great mindset for uninterrupted sleep. Herbal teas in particular are fantastic at soothing worries and bringing a sense of peace to your body and mind alike.

Another sleep remedy is mindfulness. Be aware of your sleep habits and strive to make them as healthy as possible. Every action you take in the evenings should be dedicated to meeting this goal. That might include shutting your television off earlier than usual and opting for a quiet bath instead. Sacrificing some of your “down time” is well worth it, however, and will leave you well-rested and ready to face the day.

Cannabidiol (CBD)

Finally, you might consider trying CBD oil to sleep. It won’t necessarily make you drowsy, but it might help calm your mind and relieve stress, anxiety, and pain that could be making it more difficult for you to find sleep.

There you have it! If you’re struggling to sleep at night, give our five remedies a try and see how they impact your night. However, keep in mind your sleep environment, as well as your sleep structure, is most important when it comes to getting adequate shut-eye. Take an assessment of your sleep space and make your health a priority this year—that starts in bed.
